Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to the Who’s Got the Bag FAQ centre.
We’re an independent, family-run sweet shop based at 89 High Street, Gosport, Hampshire, founded by James Epps in 2022.
Whether you’re ordering our freeze-dried sweets online, creating a pick ’n’ mix, visiting our Gosport shop or buying one of our toys, you’ll find answers to some of our most common questions below.
Freeze-Dried Sweets
Why choose Who’s Got the Bag freeze-dried sweets?
Our freeze-dried sweets are produced by us, rather than being bought from another company already freeze-dried.
We take a low and slow approach to freeze drying.
Instead of trying to rush batches through, we carefully control the freeze-drying and sublimation process to achieve the taste and texture we want.
Our goal is simple: crispy, crunchy freeze-dried sweets with maximum flavour and freshness.
Many of our freeze-dried products are produced to order rather than sitting in large quantities of stock waiting to be sold.
We also produce some of our most popular products in small batches.
Once produced, our freeze-dried sweets are packed into either heat-sealed bags or airtight, tamper-evident sealed containers to help maintain their freshness and signature crunch.
For us, freeze drying isn't about producing sweets as quickly as possible. We want the finished product to be right before we send it to you.
Do you make your own freeze-dried sweets?
Yes.
Our freeze-dried sweets are produced by us. We don't simply purchase finished freeze-dried candy from another supplier and repackage it.
This gives us greater control over the process, freshness and finished texture of the products we sell.
Are your freeze-dried sweets made fresh?
Yes. Many of our freeze-dried sweets are produced to order, while some of our most popular products are prepared in small batches.
Because of this, freeze-dried orders can occasionally take slightly longer to dispatch.
We would rather take a little extra time to prepare a fresh batch properly than compromise the finished product by rushing the process.
Why does freeze-dried candy become crunchy?
Freeze drying removes moisture from a frozen product through a process called sublimation.
During sublimation, frozen water changes from ice into water vapour without first becoming liquid water.
Removing moisture can dramatically change the structure and texture of suitable sweets, creating the light, crispy or crunchy texture associated with freeze-dried candy.
Different sweets react differently to freeze drying, which means the finished texture, shape and size can vary from product to product.
How do you keep freeze-dried sweets crunchy?
Moisture is one of the biggest enemies of freeze-dried food.
We package our freeze-dried products carefully to help protect them from moisture and maintain their texture.
Depending on the product, this includes heat-sealed packaging or airtight, tamper-evident sealed containers.
Once opened, we recommend resealing the product properly and keeping it somewhere cool and dry.
Ordering & UK Delivery
Do Who’s Got the Bag deliver across the UK?
Yes. You can order from Who’s Got the Bag online for delivery across the UK.
We use Royal Mail and DPD, depending on the order and delivery service selected.
How much is delivery?
Our standard delivery charge starts from £2.99.
Available delivery services and the final delivery charge are shown during checkout.
Do you offer next-day delivery?
Next-day delivery options are available on eligible orders.
We also offer 48-hour delivery options.
Remember that the delivery service begins after your order has been prepared and dispatched. If your order contains freshly produced freeze-dried products, preparation may take slightly longer.
How quickly will you dispatch my order?
Our aim is to dispatch orders within 24 hours whenever possible.
Most orders are dispatched quickly, but some products require additional preparation.
Orders containing freeze-dried sweets can take slightly longer because many products are freshly freeze-dried rather than being kept in large quantities for long periods.
We normally aim to have orders dispatched within one to three working days at the maximum.
During particularly busy periods, delivery times can vary.
Why can freeze-dried orders take slightly longer?
Some of our freeze-dried products are produced specifically for incoming orders or made in small batches.
Freeze drying takes time, and we don't want to rush the process simply to get an order out of the door.
If an order needs a fresh batch, we allow the product to complete its freeze-drying cycle before packaging it securely for delivery.

Can I spread the cost of my online order?
Where available, customers can use Clearpay through our website to spread the cost of eligible purchases.
Clearpay's own eligibility requirements, terms and conditions apply.
Why are your website prices sometimes cheaper than marketplace prices?
Selling through third-party marketplaces can involve additional platform, advertising and transaction fees.
Because customers purchasing directly from our website or Gosport shop don't create all of those marketplace costs for us, we're able to keep our direct prices extremely competitive.
We want our website and physical shop to offer customers good value for money and give people a reason to shop directly with our independent family business.
Prices can therefore sometimes differ between our website, physical shop and third-party marketplaces.
